FAQ

How is business?

Great! If you’d like to know more about how our first year in business went, please read our First Year Report here.

Are you a non-profit?

At this point, we are not a registered non-profit. Initially, we decided not to pursue this option because it added complications and limitations on our end, but we are now considering the option. Regardless, we are not gaining privately from this endeavour; proceeds from sales go towards operational expenses including rent, utilities, and an hourly living wage for ourselves and future staff, and anything in excess of this is invested into local initiatives.

Do you offer consignment?

We do not offer any consignment, nor do we anticipate being able to offer it in the future.

How do you give back to the community?

By providing a local drop off point for secondhand goods, selling items affordably, donating money to local causes, collaborating with local non-profits, keeping items out of the landfill, and creating a fun and accessible space!

Which items do you and do you not accept?

Please see these lists.

Where and when can I donate?

Please see our current donation information here.

Are you hiring?

Unfortunately, we do not currently have the budget to hire staff. However, we are always welcoming new volunteers. If you are interested, please get in touch!

What benefits do you offer your volunteers?

Volunteers get first dibs on new items, and get 20% off everything in the store!

What happens to the items you don't sell?

We work with a number of local organizations to re-distribute items we aren’t able to sell; in the winter we save warm clothing and blankets for shelters, personal care items are donated to the foodbank, ceramics are donated to Elayna’s mosaic group, and most linens are donated to MARS wildlife rescue. Unfortunately we aren’t able to save everything from the landfill, and are always looking for more ways to recycle, so if you have a use for anything you think we might be getting rid of, please do not hesitate to reach out!

If I can’t make it to donate during your open hours, can I leave my donations outside?

No, please do not leave your donations outside. More often than not, the nice things get taken and the rest gets rained on, peed on by feral cats, or otherwise compromised which costs us time and money. We greatly appreciate your donations, but please only drop them off during our open hours.

Can I bring my dog in?

Yes, we love dogs!
